Paradise Island

Once known as Hog Island, Paradise Island is 685 acres of pure bliss connected to Nassau by two 600-foot bridges. In the 1960's Huntington Hartford -- heir to the A&P supermarket fortune -- bought Hog Island which was used primarily for farming, and developed it into the 685 acre Paradise Island. More recent investors have included Merv Griffin and Sol Kerzner who developed Atlantis. The island was developed almost exclusively to delight and accommodate visitors, with resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, a golf course, an aquarium, and a casino rounding out the amenities.

Paradise Island is world renowned for white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, a mild tropical climate and a luxurious lifestyle. It is home to some of the world's most sought-after real estate-properties owned by Bahamians and international investors alike. Rare island beauty and first-class amenities combine with rising property values, low taxes and a long history of political and economic stability. The mythical Atlantis Resort and Casino and the elegant Ocean Club greatly enhance the amenities and investment appeal of this tropical Shangri-La.

There is suddenly a wide variety of options available for a primary or second home on Paradise Island. Unprecedented luxury and amenities are included with the condominium developments on the island and the Ocean Club Estates community. Not to be overlooked, many older properties are receiving facelifts and enjoy excellent returns on the short-term vacation rental market. Spacious floor plans and recent upgrades make these units excellent value for money.

Ocean Club Estates

Ocean Club Estates, located on the eastern tip of well-known Paradise Island, is a Kerzner International development which continues the legacy of elegance and sophistication established at the nearby Ocean Club. This community is very exclusive and attracts a variety of high net worth individuals seeking a relaxed lifestyle with a stunning private golf course and private Beach & Tennis Club. This highly demanded community is comprised of luxury homes situated on the golf course, inland waterway and beaches. In addition, there are four exclusive residential condo buildings located on the harbour side of the community with a full-service marina. While both Ocean Club Estates homeowners and condo owners alike enjoy the beautiful amenities within their private gates, they each also have access to the amenities at Atlantis and in addition, the homeowners enjoy the added privilege of membership at the Ocean Club Resort.

Enjoy peaceful morning walks as the sun drifts lazily over the horizon. Later in the day water sports are available near the resorts, but you will still find a quiet retreat. There are two public access paths.

Several smaller beaches exist where the sand and water are just as gorgeous, and you are likely to find yourself more or less alone. Try Paradise Beach, Honeymoon Cove or Smugglers Beach.
